2006 BSU DevCom Plugs
January 7, 2009 We would like to share to you the plugs that the students made during their internship in Buguias, Benguet. We only had one laptop and a mobile phone that we used to record dialogues. We used audacity to edit the audio. These plugs were aired in the following community radio stations: Radyo Natin- Buguias, Benguet; Radyo Natin- Bontoc; and Radyo ng Bayan-Bontoc, Mt. Province. The Interns we handled helped each other in recording and editing their plugs. They have had sleepless nights and we are proud that they were able to come up with this collection that we are going to share with you. (NOTE: We were all first timers in using audacity— and it was fun.) Internship Instructors: Marife D. Carpio and Sheryl I. The new "development communication"
February 11, 2008February 11, 2008
Nora Quebral, in 1971, defined development coomunication as “the art and science of communication applied to the speedy transformation of a country and the mass of its people from poverty to a dynamic state of economic growth that makes possible greater social equality and the larger fulfillment of the human potential”. As she revealed in her article "Development Communication in a Borderless World" she has become less ambitious in her old age thus reconstructing her definition of the field as "the art and science of human communication linked to a society’s planned transformation from a state of poverty to one of dynamic socio-economic growth that makes for greater equity and the larger unfolding of individual potential (2001)."

The BS DevCom
April 10, 2006The Bachelor of Science in Development Communication, in the Benguet State University, was born in 1999. It started with 42 students, coming from the differents parts of the Cordillera Region. The first batch (2003) of graduates are the 26 DevCom students who took the challenge to finish the course that was still blooming in the university at that time.
At present, the BS DevCom continues to strive to reach people in the grassroots through its courses. Students are encouraged to practice what they learned in nearby communities– but they go as far as Ifugao and Mt. Province to practice what they learned in school and learn from their experiences in the community
Experience DevCom in the heart of Benguet.
Come and learn with us…
